Tibetan Terrier Breed Information

Original Function: herder, good luck charm, companion

Temperament: Outgoing, alert, intelligent and game; neither fierce nor pugnacious. Sparing of affection to strangers.

Characteristics: Lively, good natured. Loyal companion dog with many engaging ways.

Recommended for: Families with older children, people who like inside pets.

Lifespan: 12 - 15 yrs

 

Height: 35-40cm (14"-16")

Coat: Outercoat long, hair like. Undercoat fine & woolly

Colour: White, golden, cream, grey or smoke, black, parti-colour and tri-colours; in fact any colour except chocolate or liver permissible

General Appearance: Medium sized body. Long coat covers their dark eyes, ears hang to the side of the head. Tail is coated & curls up & over onto the back.

The Tibetan Terrier's origins are from Tibet, the Tibetan people had high respect for their dogs, as they believed that they brought them good luck and when people died they were reincarnated as dogs. The name terrier in their title is there to refer to their medium size; they are not diggers or hunters.
They are very intelligent and easy to train. They are a happy lively dog that makes a loving companion.

Grooming- regular brushing is needed to keep the long coat knot free. Wash them when necessary.

Exercise- daily walks and play sessions will keep them fit and happy.
